Cucumber seedlings dying

It's awful. Cucumber seedlings popped up beautifully and have now started wilting and dying. I thought it was because the greenhouse was too hot for them. I've brought them into my conservatory on the windowsill but they aren't recovering. Well watered. What's wrong?

They could be damping off. This can be a problem for new seedlings.

Probably too cold at nights, there is a big big contrast in night and day temps at the moment, sow some more now.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • They were on an incubator so I'm sure it wasn't temps? I'll check that link out too. Thankyou.

How have you been watering them. Cue's don't like their stems getting wet or sitting in water.

At the seedling stage I use vermisculite around the stem, prevents damping off and keeps the stem relatively dry.
