Wisteria support

My wisteria is about 8 years old and doing well, but some of the wires we put up originally to train it up the wall are now biting into the stems, where they have thickened up.  How do I deal with this without damaging the plant?

You have to re-wire it really. I don't know what anchors you used originally but you have to get the screw in type and drill it into the brickwork, not the mortar. You can get different lengths although they can be a bugger to find. Builders merchants are your best bet for finding the longer ones. Cut the original wires after you've re strung the wire frame. The wisteria will just grow round the wire, it won't harm the stems.
