What's happened to my tulip bulbs?

I'm fairly new here, so please don't shout at me if this has already been a topic.
I planted up two large containers of daffodils and tulips, then kept them in the greenhouse for a while. I had a glorious show of daffodils - sweet little things I think are called tete-a-tete. There is absolutely no sign of the tulips, though. All my neighbours currently have a wonderful show of tulips, but mine are either hiding or no longer there 
. I've heard that mice are rather partial to the odd tulip bulb - is it possible that the little rascals had a tulip-fest at my expense? Or, did I plant them too deep (about twice the depth of their size) or have they fallen foul of some other pest?
Please help me on this one!

After you have a dig around to investigate.. and everything looks in good order. Consider that the soil temperature might play in a difference. Are your neighbors in the ground? Receiving different amounts of light?
I have an example for daffodils.. but I think it will apply, so bare with me.
My neighbors daffodils bloom first. They are south facing up against the house, in ground. They are blooming as mine are just peeping their heads above the soil. In my front yard I took one bag and planting them in two different areas. One batch is against the house, the other is out under some fruit trees. The ones against the house, which receives less sunlight, bloom about two weeks prior to the ones under the fruit trees. I think this is due to the ambient house heat. Same bag, same everything.
Maybe yours in the pot get colder at night, maybe less light? Think about how your situations might differ.
