Mine are due to be lifted this winter along with the hostas as tthey were all, well mostly, planted 3 years ago.

    If the knee gets sorted.

    Devon.
  • @Lyn: LOL! I used that expression once to my children when I said I needed a new bra. They keep teasing me with it!

However, a good one does make life in the garden so much easier! image

    • Ellen. You might like to have a look at Kathys site called Daylillies on the Plants  line. She has posted many photos of her Hemerocallis blooms - such a huge collection!

  • @Pat E: I will definitely have a look there. Thank you for the tip!

@Hostafan1: Indeed Hemerocallis do make life a lot easier too. image

  • Hi Ellen

i have just lifted and divided 9 day lillies and replanted in a nursey boarder( this is a temporary site in my garden before I decide what to do with them.

Faiely easy to lift as just over 3 years since they were planted and divided 9 plants to create 21 plants in total. I do find that they have a incredible rate of growth and dividing will stimulate this

A note on watering. I water my day lilies every week and give them an inch of water around the base of the plant that improves their flowering. I also feed them with standard growmore fertiliser in spring and autumn

Apart from that, they will give you a beautiful show of flowers from July to September

  • Hi Greenfingers Steve

Lucky you, to have so many dailillies and such a large garden! image

I will bear it in mind that they will increase even  faster when divided. I might be able to give some away next year.

Thanks for the tip on watering and fertilising. Just in time for the Autumn feed and not too much work for such showy plants. They are worth it! image
