dead Bamboo's?

Hi all...new to GW.com.
I have divided a reasonable sized Bamboo into 4 good sized clumps, but, they are not showing any sign of new growth. They are in a new border and were planted with lots of manure in early March. No idea of its name. Its about 1m tall with pale yellow stems.
Am I expecting too much too soon?...I hope so...any advice appreciated.

Firstly, welcome Debs,it's only April. have no fear.
Are the leaves green still? I would think 'expecting too much too soon' is closer to the mark. I would keep them well watered until they perk up. Bamboo does sulk for some time after being split.
ah...great news then..
only a few green leaves at the mo'...I'll water regularly then and maybe a feed?...and fingers crossed.
I do believe it has been neglected, in a pot at my friends for a couple of years, I think that's why I've thought they should be lapping up the improved conditions.
I'm more than happy with a sulky bambie...just love em.
late last summer i had a huge patch of bamboo planted in the garden, anyway i wanted it out so i built 4 large rectangle planters on wheels so i could use them as a mobile screen.
I planted them up with plenty of manure and garden soil etc, after about 4/5 weeks the leaves started turning yellow and dropping off, i thought it was the shock of moving them then i thought i'll just check
with my garden centre and he said that the manure was too strong for the roots and i was killing it and they needed digging up and i needed to replace the manure soil with john innes no.3 i did that and thankfully they are thriving now and all green again.

Have watered a few times and very heavy rain here last night (NW), first rain for weeks...and the bamboo's are coming to life!!!!
