Transferring seedlings from propagation trays
in Plants
Hi guys,
Does anyone have any tips for transferring seedlings from propagation trays into their own pots without damaging the plants?
Thanks,
Justin

I use a white plastic plant label to ease them gently out of the seedtray.
Only hold them by a leaf - never by the stem.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
and I use the handle of a coffee spoon....but don't try to do it too soon, wait until they are big enough to handle and if they have made their first true leaves, use the earlier ones to handle them by....the spoon handle also makes a little hole to drop them into once lifted. Like Dove says do not hold the stem.
Thanks! They are so delicate!
Snap gardenning granny, I use a coffee spoon too
.
I use an old kitchen fork
Me to Kef but on the tiny seedlings I use a hair grip and loads of patience
wow - didn't know hair grips still existed!
I use a skewer. Plus which I sow my seeds into separate modules, allow the soil to dry slightly and tip the whole module out and break it up gently so I can separate all the little plants. Have even done lobelia one by one like this! (Not recommended)
I use the individual cell trays for propagators. You can leave them slightly too long and not end up having to pull two seedlings apart. I also use a white plastic plant label.
Guess there are only so many ways of doing something!
Thanks all! My first time growing from seed!
