On the bright side - I love its sunny smiling faces, and it dies down after flowering and you won't know you've got it until the sun comes out again next spring
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hostafan, it's another 'thug' to remove. I have taken on garden which hasn't been touched in 10 years - the plants are celandine, welsh poppy, bloodycranesbill, cape fuschia, spanish bluebell, dead nettle. If you know about these you know I have my work cut out for me.
It's with the help of GWforum that I have names for them. Thanks
Thanks, the forum has been a lifesaver to someone keen but new to gardening. I do have clear patches of garden that I have planted so come summer it will be rewarding.
I hate the stuff. I am gradually eradicating it but it will take a few years, never ever put it in the compost bin, it will survive!
agree the flower is pretty but when it comes up in the centre of one of your plants and covers it, its got to go. make sure you get every bulb out. I have tried Glyphosate it dont work!!! its just back next year.

no , sorry but it's celandine. A nasty little critter which has tiny bulbils and is very difficult to get rid of . I hope you like it.

Thank for your optimistic comment, Dovefromabove. Of all of my 'thugs' this is the one I like best
Alex, it's all part of the fun.
Remember , there's always someone here to help / sympathise, or just let off steam with.
Dove the trouble is, when it comes up next year, it'll be a bigger patch.

Yes, an annual task - chasing it back from the boundaries of its allotted area - but what a reward on a sunny spring day - can't help loving it
