strim and mowing order

I have just done the first cut of the year and for the first time mowed, then strimmered the edges. I have always done it opposite way so the lawnmower lifts the cuttings. is there a rule on this lawn maitence.

+1 I mow first then strim the bits I can't get to with the mower

A no brainer.  Strim or edge first then mow.  Mowing then tidies it all and creates a neat edge.  Why mow first????

'Cos OH does the mowing while I'm tidying the kitchen and listening to the Archers on Sunday morning - then I go outside and strim - he doesn't have the patience to deal with the tempermental strimming cord image

  • That's exactly how I roll. Strimming first saves me all the sweeping up after.
  • I've always strimmed first, for the reasons that Verdun gives.

Exactly Dove, some people on here seem to have no idea how to organise their gardening. imageimage

  • Strip first then mow..but keep the swimmer out to check for the missed bitsimage

Mow first, then tidy with big 'scissors' for want of a better word. I've tried two strimmers, and scissors are quicker, cheaper and easier.
