Fleece

I was wondering if I could plant out my plants early if I used a fleece to protect them from frost, does anyone else do this?

No, I dont. I find its best to wait until May, the soil is warmer, the plants are bigger, unless you are talking about large pots of perennials?

  • I'm planning to put them all into flower beds, I bought them as plug plants and I didn't realise they'd need to be grown indoors and then hardened off. There all starting to get really big now and I have no windowsill space left!

A coldframe might the answer to your dilemma. It can protect from frost and harden off. They don't have to be expensive. My lidl one works well, although my Halls one is better. If it is light, make sure you peg it down.
