Peppers and Chillis

Hi, I'm after some advice on my pepper and chilli plants. I started them off back in February and now I have decent sized plants with several leaves. I'm just after some advice on when is best to plant out, do I pinch them out? And any other helpful hints! I'm growing ; pepper big red, pepper Marconi, chilli inferno and chilli Peruvian lemon image

It sounds like most are Capsicum annuum. They will not tolerate frost, and cold will stunt growth. Wait until the nights are at least 10C. That meansearly Junemaybe. If you have a coldframe, you can put them out earlier. Mine are in the coldframe, unless and until we get a cold snap.

Don't pinch unless they get taller than you want. They should branch naturally. If they are leggy, you can plant deeper, roots will grow from the buried stem. Feed with dilute tomato feed. Protect from winds if possible. A sunny spot near a south facing wall is ideal.

Is the lemon a Capsicum baccatum? They are a bit more hardy.

  • Just checked and the lemon ones are capsicum baccatum image thanks this helps a lot!!
