A picture would help show the extent of the damage. Is it coming into leaf?

I grew one from  a cutting .Had it about 7 years and it was about 10m tall , then it succumbed to honey fungus. image

  • We are thinking about taking around 8-10 ft off ours as there is very few buds. I was wondering if this may help.

  • Hi nutcutlet I will put a picture of it on tomorrow .

They suffer from wind damage and really do like consistently damp soil. I have problems with both as it is quite dry where I live and very windy, so I get a lot of die back on this tree. I just cut it back: you should see the new leaves now otherwise it sounds terminal: can you see any green growth?

we had a twisted willow and it died, i read that they have a limited lifespan and can just die, we left ours for two years to see if it came back, it didn't so we cut it down but used all of it ....

the main trunk was 'y' shaped so that bit was cut level and turned upside down to make a nice 'sculpture' with butterflies attached,

the thick branches were blackjacked and inserted into the ground for clematis to grow up and other climbers

the thinner branches were woven in to a fence like trellis for one of my beds

and the very thin twisty branches were all cut to length and i have them in chimney pots next to the outside fire place image

  • Thanks Blair there is some new growth but minimal.may try giving it a good drink over the next few days and see what happens

  • Thanks everyone trying watering and some pruning will see how it goes.

this is what i have done with my twisted willow that died, all of it was used, there are a lot more thick branches that i have used for climbers etc which you can't see.
