Beech hedge

when is the best time of year to plant beech and how far apart

    45cm apart.  I planted my new hornbeam hedge as bare roots in November but the plants are available all year around so I don't think it matters too much, except that if you plant them in a dry season you would need to water them fairly often.

  • You can plant all year, but it's far better in the main to do it when the shrubs will be in the dormant phase. Less of a shock to the plant and it gives it all winter to put on a bit more of a root system for the spring.
