Acer Palmatum 'Little Princess'
in Plants
Good morning all
The wife and I are very newbies to gardening, however yesterday we went to buy some pot plants for our small shaded garden.
Among some smaller plants we brought a very lovely Acer Palmatum 'Little Princess'.
Our garden only gets sun for a few hours in the morning, because of this in September last year, we laid Artificial Grass. Now we want to brighten up the garden, with a mixture of ferns and beautiful shade loving pot plants.
We spent a lot of money on our Acer Palmatum 'Little Princess' yesterday and want to know the best way to look after it.
As a rule, when will I need to cut the main tree trunk from the supporting bean pole it came attached too, if at all.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The RHS site also has information on growing many different types of plant.
I think the one thing any new gardener needs to know is, the plants haven't read the rule book. There are so many variables involved. So, just enjoy your plant and don't worry too much about it, certainly don't kill it with kindness.
Acers like partial shade, in a sheltered spot, they do not like wind.
They are woodland plants and would preferably choose a slightly acid soil. I would use a mixture of John Innes 3 / Ericaceous compost / leaf mold.
Without seeing the plant hard to comment on removing the cane.
