Caltha palustris

janebaljanebal Posts: 130

After seeing Monty Don doing his new pond last night, I bought 3 caltha palustris today for my new pond. I put them in aquatic compost in pond pots  but I am not sure how deep they go in the water. Should the pot be sticking a liitle bit out of the water so the stems are dry or should the water go around the base of the stems?

boggy soil at the edge of the pond janebal. Mine are just above to just below the water.

Thank you - as I have 3 I will experiment with different places and see which one survives!

I think they'll  all survive. My water level is variable. Right now some are fighting their way up to the surface from about a foot down. By August they'll be 3 foot above the water line but they'll be back next year

I have mine in a basket, the water level is about two inches below the top of said basket. Like nut says, plants adapt and I think as long as the marsh marigold has its feet wet at some point it will be happy image
