Fritillaria Crown Imperialis

Hi. Does anyone grow this bulb?

I bought two this year and put each one in a pot. They are now flowering and I've sunk them into the border. I am not sure what to do with them once they have died down. I had planned to bring them in over winter as I didn't think they were hardy. I am reading differing info online. One site said they only flower well in their first year.

They are hardy. In the ground they increase slowly.

These plants have not grown any leaves yet. Is this normal? The flower stems are dying back. Thanks

They're spring bulbs. They die down after flowering and reappear next yearimage

Yes Nutcutlet but they've never had any leaves, just grew a flower spike. How will the bulb get fed. I'm a bit confused....

Weren't there leaves up the flower spike?

Whatever it's done it won't do anything else til next year

Oh yes Nutcutlet you're right. I've just dug out a picture of them in flower and there's leaves all up the flower stem. Just like Lillies. The withered flower stems are now bald and I'd forgotten. Thanks for your help.
