Wind damage to Fritillaria
Hi was meaning to post this a couple of weeks ago, The winds broke the main stems of two Fritillaria which was Rubra. The stems were broke right across and no way to save them should I leave them until the same time as the other have finished to feed to store for next year. Or will these bulbs be damaged due to no leaves storing for next time. Many Thanks if you have had similar experiences with wind damage

That's bad luck James, there's often a lot of wind when they flower I find. One of mine has a kink but they stood up to it well this year. You might as well cut off the part above the break now.
In the sticks near Peterborough
That's a shame James. Mine are just coming into flower now and it's getting very windy out there. I would do just as Nut says and leave them in the ground and they should flower again next year.
Thanks still have a couple I was away when that bad weather it at the start of April the other have bamboo canes and tied down , Thanks for replies
