I've made the mistake of wiring in without a proper plan so been 'repenting at leisure' now taking advice from experienced gardeners and a bit of garden design - which will all pay dividends.
The advice I was given many moons ago when taking on a new garden was don't remove anything in the first year, let it be and observe what you've already got.
I have the same problem here, 'a sea of fence' … garden goes all around the house which is great as you see your own garden from every window. To overcome this I've started to planted climbers like clematis, honeysuckle, jasmine etc .. also I intend to get some roses. I still have endless fencing but 2 years in and I'm started to see the difference.
Look at clematis type plants for your fence Bluebelle, you get some lovely flower and they grow very easily in a couple of years your fence will be gone !!
I moved in last november. The garden is tiny, south facing, and surrounded by a 6 foot fence. There was a sumtotal of 2 prostrate evergreens , which I haven't identified yet, a 6" border! and 2 euonymous which appeared when I pruned the said evergreens into 2 columns.
I have widened the border to 2ft (we are renting so taking it slowly), and planted clematis, honeysuckle , jasmine and a climbing rose so far.Oh and 2 bush roses. My aim is to cover the fence, and fill the whole garden with fragrance.
In my last garden, I had a Paul's Himalayan Musk rose. It covered a 30ft fence in 4 years!
Hi I am trying to give my garden a make over. But Iv got a large bit of garden that is under trees I'm thinking of putting grass and seeds together and sew them . Would any one have any ideas for this space .

Hello Lynda, welcome to the forum. ?
I think you would get a better response to your question by starting a new thread, maybe with some pictures of the area you want to makeover.
