Using my winter bought violas

Jesse2501Jesse2501 Posts: 152

I was wondering if anyone knows when the violas we buy in winter stop flowering. Mine seem to go on forever. I'm thinking of planting them into a raised bed to provide some additional colour. They look good right now and I'm wondering if I deadhead them and replant in fresh compost if they will go on providing colour throughout the summer?

the bees seem to like visiting them too.

Thanks verdun. I'll give them a go and see how they do. Really don't want to dump them but I need their pot for summer herbs.

I plant lots of violas that I buy in autumn as cheap plug plants. They flower their socks off in spring then I'm afraid I have to throw them out between mid May and mid June to make room for summer bedding. But I also put some in flower beds and they fizzle out by July - but unpruned.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
