Growing fruit and veg in desert conditions

Hi. I currently live in Dubai but have family back in the uk where I'm from. When I'm back in the uk in the summer I would like to pick up some strawberry and tomato seeds to grow in the winter in Dubai. As the winter temperatures reach mid to late 20s and the climate is very dry, can anyone recommend a good variety of both for me to grow successfully in these desert condition. They must have tons of flavour too.

If you like cherry sized tomatoes, Sungold is hard to beat for flavour and is a strong grower, so should do well there.  However, I think you're on to a loser with strawberries as I'm pretty sure they require a cold spell and as their best crops come in years 2 and 3, you will have a serious problem in keeping them alive over the summer.  Water melons might be worth a shot though. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
