Decorative cherry (Prunus Collingwood Ingram) did not flower this year
Hello all, I bought a young cherry tree from RHS Wisley and planted it out in mid March. It's a Prunus Collingwood Ingram (basically a Prunus Kursar with darker flowers). I assume it's a couple of years old as all such nursery trees. It's my first tree, I am new to growing trees! The planting out went well I think, I followed instructions about hole size, mixed general purpose compost in with the soil, even used a friendly root fungus powder, and watered weekly. The tree is perfectly healthy. It had pointy buds when bought. These have slowly elongated and over Easter burst into... bronze-green leaves... So basically the flowers have been bypassed! There is no trace of flower buds. It has been a bit of a cold, sun-less spring but all the cherries here in London have bloomed perfectly well. Is it the youth of my tree? The stress of planting? Frost damage to buds before I even bought it? I have done some online research and can see that lack of blooms can happen - but it's often not clear why. I just hoped to hear from someone with cherry experience as to why this happned, whether it's normal, and should I be doing something different in future?! Many thanks!

Trees and Shrubs often take the huff when moved into a new location. The main thing is that it's healthy and it holds it leaves. If it's healthy, it'll flower next year once its settled in. It might also be a later flowering variant.
Hi Patrick, how is your Cherry Tree doing, the reason i ask is that i'm thinking of getting a small flowering cherry tree for my garden, is yours planted in the ground or a pot?
thanks
