How will you find them if the leaves have died back?
  • The stems are still green now do I wait till they are a yellow and withered or is it ok to pull them up now

Are you lifting them to store til the Autumn or lifting them to plant somewhere else now.

If you want to store them I'd leave them where they are and give a feed or two with tomato fertiliser to build the bulbs up then lift them when the leaves are yellow and withered. That will be about May time.

If you want to transplant them I reckon you can do it now but follow the same regime as above.
  • Thanks for the replays guys I am lifting the to store till the autumn.

All bulbs need to be left with their foliage on for at least 6 weeks after flowering finishes so their leaves can manufacture food and their roots take up moisture and nutrients from the soil to build up the bulb for newt year's flowers.

Unless you're a professional with proper storage facilities, if you lift and store small bulbs such as crocuses, even after the six weeks, they risk dehydrating and dying so it's best to transplant them to new homes whilst still green or as soon as the foliage has died.
