Sorry for the newbie question, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what these large, lily-looking plants were please? They're located at one end of my familie's garden and I've no idea what they are!
Thanks all for your prompt replies, much appreciated.
Here are a couple more images below, one of the purple-flowered plants that reside underneath and also a close-up image of one of the bigger leaves (they're about 4-6 inches across on average I'd say):
Also wanted to add that the broad leaved plants are growing around 8-12 inches high, with the smaller purple-flowered plants growing underneath.
If memory serves, I recall the purple leaved plants were present in the garden for many years, and the larger stuff has grown since of it's own accord...
Looks like Petasites fragrans to me. They flower very early - January/February - if they flower at all. I don't think Butterbur leaves would be that advanced yet.

The leaves look like celandine - are there any yellow flowers that open in sunlight?
It is a pig to get rid of - I made the mistake of leaving it in my first year in my garden and now it is all over my bed

If we knew what the blue/purple flowers in front were, we could assess how big this is.

The purple flowers belong to a vinca.
Could the plant be Coltsfoot?
