Hi Gardengirl, very slowly for the amount of graft we have put in. New shed is built and looking good.

Can't post pics from phone for some reason. image

Thanks Gardengirl, I didn't know that. image
Here's a piccy of my lovely new shed that I built, with a little help from hubby. We have cleared about 1/3 of the plot from weeds. But still lots to do. Although since this pic was taken I was given a plastic cover greenhouse, and that's up next to the shed. We have been on holiday

so look forward to getting up there today, and perhaps at some point this month getting some planting and sowing done. image

Its a 4x6ft and yes it has a 'security' window running across one side.

Thanks for this great thread! I've been wondering how to go about tackling out 1acre "garden" in France, which is little more than a field. It's full of nettles, docks, couch grass, dandelions.... You name it, it's probably in there somewhere! I think we'll try the cardboard and straw idea for some of it, maybe weedkiller on other bits and see what happens.

My plan is to have half of it planted with a mixture of flowering plants and fruit/veg in teardrop-shaped beds with grass paths wide enough for the lawn mower. I have a picture in my head, but it's going to take years and I want it now image. It's currently taking DH about 3 hours to mow with a sit-on mower as it's also very uneven (largely thanks to next door's kids mucking about on their little motorbikes when we're not there image) and we've a huge, probably unusable, swathe where the new septic tank was put in last year.

If we're going to grass some of it, would it be better to seed it rather than turf it? I'm thinking about maybe round where the septic tank is buried as I don't want to plant anything which might end up with deep roots. Any suggestions gratefully receivedimage
