Aciddentally buried geranium shoots

Hi everyone,
I was doing some work on the front garden beds yesterday and planted some 9cm Geranium 'Rise and Shine'. Later on I topped up the beds with some compost and accidentally covered two of the plants' shoots with the compost. I didn't notice straight away, and when I attempted to find them I couldn't. I'm a bit reluctant about scraping back the soil in case I damage the shoots, so wondered if they will continue to grow up through the soil, or should I locate them and bring them back to the surface? They each only had one small shoot of green so far.
Thanks for any help,
Lucid

I think you should find them

Thanks nutcutlet. I'll give it a go.

Those 9cm pots of plants are barely big enough to plant out without any extra challenges
In the sticks near Peterborough
I managed to find them both and the shoots are still intact so hopefully no damage has been done.
This is such a helpful forum! Thanks again nutcutlet.

Ok thanks for the tip Verdun. I've got some larger pots around somewhere.
