What about the cut plants? Should they be potted too?
Hi Justin,
I leave all the growth on over the winter ... and leave the plants in the ground. I pile up leaf mould over the base. They've all survived for the last 3 years (Southern Scotland).
I also sow seeds (fresh from the plants in the late summer) and over winter these in a cold frame. So I've now got a sizeable drift from an original planting of 6 plants ... and will keep adding each year.

I planted verbena. B last year. The original plants re- seeded in the areas planted in the spring but the original, plants did not survive the winter
its re seeds very profusely so you will have quite a few growing in the summer but not in the places you want them
I took cuttings last September. Now potted on after being overwintered in a cool greenhouse. I experimented with cuttings from the cut down last March. They did well, producing earlier flowering plants than seedlings.
