Tiny flies

Hi all,

I've recently bought some cucumber plugs and after planting them up I now notice there are dozens of tiny flies around them.

I used potting compost from last year that has been in the shed and assume this is where they've come from.

My question is, what are the flies and will they destroy my plants?

I am squashing them as I see them but there just seems to be more next time I look.

any advise would be gratefully received.

Thanks in anticipation,

Viv, ( an enthusiast beginner)

The sound like bog flies: putting them outside or in a GH will help. If you have to keep in the house then keep the soil dryish and use fly spray.

  • Thanks for that, i'll try it. ????
