Laying turf

Hi,

We have juse had a new lawn laid by a contracted gardener & he used what looked like weed supresent fabric underneath or could be landscape fabric. The turf seems fine but will it be able to root as it should? I am a little concerned, and when watering the turf,  the water is sitting on top. Can you please advice?

Many thanks.

kind regards,

Lynn Jones

I'd give the contractor a call. He might have the answer.

Certainly call him as it sounds odd to me. I can't see why he would go to the expenses and hassle of laying any sort of fabric underneath turf as it is totally redundant thing to do and as you say potentially going to kill the turf.

  • Thank you for your advice, I will ring him & see what he has to say.

    much appreciated.

    thanks,

I've laid turf which has a very fine mesh in it. Suppliers use it to give strength with less soil in the turf.
