I have just sown mine in pots, and they're on the kitchen windowsill .They won't go out until well into May. If you try to hurry them they just get knocked back by the cold. They'll be galloping away by June.
By the way, Michele, they're very easy to grow from seed, don't bother with plugs next time.
Good advice from Dove and Magpie Michelle. I'm growing "gold rush" this year from seeds. Mine won't go out until June. I'm container growing too....tiny garden
Good to know they're tasty Dove. Grew my first ones last year "Atena" I think, another yellow one. Hope to do better this year, had a bit of downy mildew due to underwatering. Still learning
I bought a courgette plant (cheating cos I only want the one plant and thought it was more foolproof) and it is growing really well on the dining room windowsill but I'm thinking I need to put it somewhere less sunny since it can't go outside for weeks yet.
Should I move it out of the sun and just put it somewhere bright? At the moment it is on a west-facing windowsill that gets the sun from about 2.30.
I was going to post this as a new thread because I have the same question about the other seedlings (grew these from seed myself ) which are broccoli, kale and tomatoes, so if the same applies to all seedlings that would be very convenient!
I'm in Aberdeenshire and have an unheated greenhouse and a cold frame but think it will be too cold to start trying to put any of them out for a good few weeks, esp as we are forecast wintry showers this week!! Brrrr
No longer newish but can't think of a new name so will remain forever newish.
I'd leave it where it is for now - less light and it'll get leggy.
Mine are on the dining room windowsill (south-east facing) and will stay there with the tomatoes until after the promised cold snap, then they'll go into the wooden-framed mini-greenhouse against the wall of the house with back up of fleece/bubble wrap at night until the end of May when I hope I'll be able to plant them out.
Fingers crossed and good luck

Yes, just pot on ... mine won't go out until late May/early June. They're still on the dining room windowsill

will do, just keen to get it all going! I just ordered some plugs off the GW subscriber page and have that sense of excitement
Yes, it's infectious isn't it? But we're due for a very chilly snap next week - I'll be fleecing my figs and pear blossom.
