Stop Plenifora

Hi,

We have lived in our house for 11 years now and I never really noticed the Pleniflora growing inside my Forsythia at first, then it slowly spread through our very large Red Robin and now it's made it's way all the way down the board with a few shoots in the lawn.

How to I stop this plant please, it's taking over? Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Yes I believe so, although mine does not look like a shrub, it has single shoots that reaches about 5-8ft high.

Funnily enough I've spent most of today digging up a stand of Kerria japonica.  It grows from horizontal roots which occasionally send up a stem.  It wasn't particularly deep rooted but the roots were quite brittle, so often broke while pulling them out.  I loosened the soil all over the area with a fork and then pulled the roots out.  I then dug the area over and removed all of the bits I had missed.  I'll be treating any shoots which come up in the future with glyphosate weedkiller which should finish it off.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
