It might help to post a picture of the little beast.
  • Sorry Ceres it was literally like a piece of cotton and only one inch long (image threw it with soil into dyke) I have problems with vine weevil grubs in other pots so total gardening tasks today have been cleaning out and repotting where possible ( a bit soul destroyingimage) am now obsessed image

    Oh! Happy Easter anywayimageimage

Vine weevils are a real problem here too. A trough of sempervivums has been ruined by the little beasts but the blackbirds have been feasting.

    Happy Easter to you too.

Easy to catch  the obsession s changed my plans yesterday, found them in a tub I was replanting, loads of the things.so instead of sowing seed I became obsessed by checking the remaining eight pots.they were full of them.I think I'd unwittingly opened a chain of  Vine Weevil Hotels and food  bank kitchens

Will spend most of today changing the compost in all the other tubs , then replacing my stock of compost over next few visits to the GC.

I spread the soil out but never saw the birds feastng on them, hope they  breakfasted on  them this morning !

  • Morning Granmaimage Easter Monday gardening schedule image go to B&Q get MPC on offer and empty clean out, repot and hope I haven't missed one, image grateful they are white as it is I have to nearly get my nose on the soil to see them

I found millions(slight exaggeration) in a potted hydrangea carefully placed them on the birdtable for posh birds nosh ,No Takers so threw them in the dyke before they squirm ed off . I wasn't taking any chancesimage

    Have a good dayimage

A few years a go I had a problem with vine weevil , so bought some stuff to kill them then repotted pots but put a couple of inches of horticulral grit on the surface of the pots , the grubs don't like digging through it

touch wood it had worked !image

  • I think I'll have a go with the gravel tipimage thanks GWRS
