You can propagate by cutting roots (if they are thick) into 1-2 inch pieces and put in gritty compost or you can find a shoot and pull it off so that it has a 'heel' and then put in water till roots appear then plant out, or you can take some cuttings of shoots that don't have flowers and take off leaves and cut just below a leaf joint and pot up.

I'm sure one of these ways or a different one will work for you.

Hi Aliesh, 'Pillow talk' is a Matthiola incana and is classified as a short-lived perennial, but is usually grown as a biennial now.  If will probably die after this year, but may struggle on for a while but will get leggier and leggier each year - that is normal.  As far as I know you can only propagate it from seed.  If you buy and sow seed now, the plants should flower next year.  If you save seed after it flowers this year, it will be 2 years before plants grown from those seeds will flower.

You can try what is suggested above though - nothing to lose!

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

will have to try again this year. I didn't realise it was short lived it is rather leggy and top heavy looks quite exotic ha !
