Can I move this shrub from it's current position? It is currently in an area that doesn't get much light and is quite wet, therefore I am thinking of building a rockery here, but don't want to lose this shrub as I like it.
I am not quite sure why you would want to build a rockery in an area which is shady, as the majority of alpine type plants like lots of sun and very sharp drainage.

It may sulk if you move it but you can try, take it with as much of a root ball as you can.

It's short-lived anyway so I'd take the risk and just buy a new one if it doesn't survive.
