trust me Ryan, you'll hopefully never ever lose that excitement.
Seeing seeds germinate which you've sown is one of the greatest joys.
I've been doing it for about 40 years, many on this forum far longer, and it really is a wonder.
How about showing them to other folk your age and see if you can spark some enthusiasm in them. Don't hold your breath , it's like trying to get young folk to like Opera , or Stilton. Some things come more easily with age.
Yes Hostafan I know the feeling and I think more of the younger generation should get into it it's quite uncommon for someone my age to like it but I do! It just gives me a real buzz to know I've grown something
I was "given" my first piece of our garden when I was about 10. I remember sowing Livingstone Daises and being thrilled at remembering the botanical name of Mesembryanthemum Criniflorum.
Hi guys. I was 6 when my mum gave me my first part of the front garden. There's nothing like growing your own plants from seed. Great satisfaction. Any way, I always photograph seedlings of plants whether they be flowers or veg just for future reference in case I sow seeds with no labels. Just an idea.
Oh Charlie that does sound like a good idea I remember planting my first plant with my nan it was a rose and I've watched it grow and it looks stunning now still there it's been there for about 5- 6 years now
Hi Ryan, I have a daughter your age and this year we have bought her some fruit canes, loganberry, raspberry "allgold" and "polka". She chose the varieties on a trip to the garden centre and hopes to use the fruit for her baking which she loves.
We also ended up buying a packet of cucamelon seeds which she was very excited about after seeing them on Alottment Challenge.
