Primula denticulata
Hi, hope someone can help! Had a big patch of primula denticulate (drumstick primula) for about 10 years now, but every 3 or 4 years the drumstick's come up but without buds and petals. Does anyone know the reason for this? Thanks Becca.

its in desperate need of dividing probably! if there are no flowers this year now is a perfect time to lift and divide. you can even divide down to individual plants, enrich the soil that you're putting them in and they should flower fine next year
Hi, thanks for that, but I do divide regularly. I'm more inclined to think it is some sort of pest as; it is not the fact that they don't flower, they send up the stalks with all the other bits but not the buds and petals. I have been thinking maybe mice but don't really have a clue.
ah right, have you checked for vine weevil? I know that primula's are susceptible to vine weevil damage, and root damage can cause strange leaf and flower deformities
Will check that out thanks.
Can you take a photo, I cant picture a plant sending up the stalks without heads on.
