plant id please

 Hello everyone ,can anyone please id this plant that's come up in a shady part of my  garden . Many thanks Wendy.

    I think it might be Valeriana officinalis, (valerian). Likes shady dampish places, Smells nice.

    Not to be confused with Centranthus rubra, also known as valerian.

    Interesting.  It has leaves that resemble peony

  • Thanks for your interest ,unfortunately three of these appeared without warning .I took the photo on the day I discovered them and they all look similar . I don't think there is a tuber , just a mass of creamy coloured roots . Hope this helps . Thanks Wendy .

    I think that poster is in the US - perhaps it looks different from that far away image

    My paeonies certainly look quite different image
