Clay soil recommendations

Hi all, I've just made some raised beds on top of existing soil - the original bed was level to the ground and very shallow soil. I'm going to add top soil, mulch and compost to help improve the clay soil already in; but I'm not expecting miracles. With that in mind, do you have a clay soil plant recommendations? Looking for things I can get established this year to serve long term, not just annuals. Thanks in advance!
