storing carrots and parsnips

Hi all, what is the best way to store carrots and parsnips?

Posts

  • I leave parsnips in the ground and dig them up when needed, but both can be put in a bucket etc of slightly damp sand or peat, kept in an unheated covered place like a shed or garage.  If the container is left outside, cover it with polythene to keep the rain out.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Freezing is a good way. I have done both this way and find it excellent.

Like Bob, I leave parsnips in the ground. They're all the sweeter after a freeze. Ditto his thoughts on carrots.
