Please can anyone identify this conifer. Sorry I don't have a photo. The needles grow out of the branch like a Christmas tree, but they grow out in a spiral. The initial impression is of short dreadlocks. It is slow growing, only about 5 feet in 20 years. Thank you

Dwarf Sawara Cypress? It is aka Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Curly Tops'. Cryptomeria japonica 'Spiralis' is also sorial and slow growing but not sure if it is a dwarf tree.
