With the weather becoming more summery after the cold spring, it's still worth looking out for Swifts nesting - many will have started late. I've noticed more Swifts around, many of which may be young birds from previous seasons. But if you do see nesting activity please report it to your local Wildlife Trust or Ornithological Society - they will appreciate every record!
The swifts have been particularly noisy round the house the last three days. I wondered if the eggs had hatched. They mobbed me when I stood in the Velux window to watch them. Close enough to hear and feel them fly past

I certainly think that Swifts are not all that plentiful this year in my area, which is not very encouraging. What does anyone else reckon?
Please keep an eye out, marc and everyone; it may just be a late year. And do put your records in to the people who need them.
