plants needed for a hot raised bed
We have a raised brick-built bed and it gets so hot and dry on the edge that I need some suggestions for suitable plants. At the moment there is some delosperma draped over the edge that does well, but we would like something to have some low growing plants just behind them. Any suggestions ?

You could try helinathemums, lavenders, cistus, pinks all of which like hot dry conditions. You'll get plenty of suggestions.
You can add a few bulbs, some of the species tulips or crocus.
In the sticks near Peterborough
Why does it get hot and dry? Can it be changed? Does it need the soil digging out and mixing with a compost that would hold the moisture better? Is the soil too near the top edge? Would a watering system work. A pipe with small holes along the dry edge that could be connected to a hose now and then to dampen the soil.
I would be looking for a cure not plants to suit a problem, if the answer to the above is no then something trailing over the edge to Cool it down. This needs a coat of looking at.

It gets hot and dry because it is made of brick and is in direct sun, so the wall is like a storage heater. I like the idea of the watering system - might try that. Thanks for all your thoughts.
Have you considered painting it white?
