Philadelphus Beauclerk

In February I bought a Philadelphus Beauclerk.  All the other plants in my garden have started to bud (apart from later trees).  But the Mock Orange is yet to show any signs of life.  For an early flowering plant I would have thought it should have at least started to show signs of buds.

An Amelanchier purchased at the same time has strong buds on it.  For info I am in South Wales - so its not a 'scotland still in snow thing'.

Should I be concerned that the plant is weak?

Scratch the bark with a finger nail. If alive, under the bark will be green. Ours have only just got buds in the last few days though.

Mine too - just a few buds appearing on the uppermost branches so far.

Don't worry, it is just waiting for things to warm up. I have a long established philadelphus and a new one bought last year and neither is showing any signs of life at all. A cutting in the greenhouse is just budding.

I can wait more happily now.
