Dunno Dave, a lot of the sticks you see in the pic aren't part of the forsythia. There's no room for it where it is, I took some cuttings in autumn and I think they're OK so I'll start another one and take this one out.
I bought it from a roadside stall and have never known which one it is.
If that needs a prune then you should see mine! When I planted it over 20 years ago I had a book about shrubs which said Forsythia doesn't need pruning, so I didn't. It's huge with a dead middle now.
It could well be suspensa if it has weeping branches.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I much prefer them growing like that. Not a shrub for growing into neat shapes in my book. One of my neighbours neatly trims theirs just before it flowers every year, leaving an ugly twiggy mess which eventually leafs-up at which point the hedge-trimmer comes out again. They probably don't even know that it flowers! They might as well grow privet - at least it would be green for the full 12 months!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Nut, I think the one we have here is a Suspensa - it will be interesting to compare the two
