Plant suggestions

Hi I am after some ideas for what to plant under a mature lilac tree and mature holly tree. They are both at bottom of our garden in opposite corners and need something to bring colour and interest if possible.

    It would help if you could tell us if these are shady areas or if they are in full sun.

    Under the lilac it is partial shade it gets the sun from late afternoon. Under the holly is shady for most of the day.
