Azalea looking battered and bruised after winter.
Hi, Spring is upon us and the sun is shining so I'm back in the yard
I have an azalea in a container which is looking rather tired. Any recommendations what I could do to rejuvenate? Is it the right time to give it a feed? If so what should I feed it? Also should I top up the compost in container? I currently have a mulch of wood chippings on to player of compost, should I remove this ? Thanks for your help x

Has it outgrown the container? Perhaps some fresh ericasious soil and a good feed. Mine have little buds on them at the moment so hoping for lots of flowers.
I inherited one in a container and it appeared to all intents and purposes half dead no leaf on exactly one half of it but i tipped it out and with ericasious compost on the the bottom of the pot then replaced the azealea and put some on the top and fed it throughout the flowering season and less through the summer it recovered beautifully and its is out there dying to get going this year and its a beautiful treat when it flowers, persevere its worth it.
A lot of Azaleas look tired at this time of year. Just wait and soon enough it will flower and produce an abundance of fresh leaves
Hi here are some photos of the azalea. As you can see quite a few of the leaves are brown and look to have been eaten by something, quite poss caterpillars as I found a green one cooconed in a foled leaf.
They look just like mine, caterpillars eat the leaves over Winter. Im not bothered as they bounce back very fast in the next few months
