Our neighbour gave us this cutting today. I asked if it was a cranesbill but she said not. It certainly looks like one?

Geranium macrorrhizum by the looks of it. Its semi evergreen and the leaves smell, but not in bad way.

Yes the leaves have a certain scent when rubbed, difficult to describe.

Tht's what I as looking for. It is as Ceres suggests, G. macrorrhizum. From the colour of the leaves it will be one of the lighter coloured ones.

I'm not sure Lyn...the one you sent me is pink I think you said? I'm not sure but I think this may be a different colour. It grows in her north facing front garden quite happily it seems.

the one I sent you was pink, I cant believe how quickly it grows, they were just J.Parker bare roots, 3 plants, now everyone has some of it and its translpanted all over my garden, sunny, shady, dry and wet. Bit of a thug probably as I have only had it 3 years this year But you can always thin it out and pass it on, its a big like the Herman the German friendship cake!

Sorry Lyn - didn't see this til now. Yes the two plants you sent me are coming up nicely. I really don't mind thugs to be honest, rather that than a plant you have to mollycoddle image
