Another Unknown Plant ...

Hello!

Apologies but I am back with another picture of a plant needing identifying. In the picture below it is the growth which looks like a black tangled mess, it also has a rather strong scent and on close inspection does have some live growth with green spiky leaves that have black edging, from what I can remember.
I'm attempting tidying up the raised bed for someone which it is in so could do with some help on what it is before I do anything else.
Thanks image

P.S. No idea why it is upside down ...

Thyme is a possibility with the strong smell. I'd cut it back to base. It will either grow or it won't but those bits will never look good againimage

  • Thanks nutcutlet, Il give it a good cut back, there's rather a lot of it!

  • Oh I forgot to mention I tried looking to the base for new shoots but couldn't see any, however there was fresh new growth along the long growth, wish I had a picture of it
