grass weeds
I have a small front garden with perennials which has become infested with a fine grass and a surplus of Michael's daisy. Trying to separate grass roots from heavy clay soil is a nightmare. Can anyone help me solve this problem.

Thank you. Weed killer could be a necessary evil. At the moment I am digging up both and transplanting where necessary. Unfortunately the soil is so sticky it is almost impossible to separate fine grass roots. The council green collection service does not want soil mixed with green waste otherwise it would be easier to throw away the top layer.
Thank you for your comments. I have spent hours this week trying to clear this small front garden but feel pretty sure the grass will reappear. I shall be investing in some manure and top soil. I do have three compost bins all full at the moment which have provided habitat for several slow worms. An interested passer by suggested I throw on some cheap sunflower seeds as they were pretty and contained a natural weed repellant.
