what bush is this and whats wrong with it?
in Plants
Ive had the plant for a few years but I don't remember what it is. The plant has spots on it, is it ok? It has lovely pink flowers that bees love.
I can't seem to add photos from my phone, I'll go on the iPad and add them.

I'd say that's an escallonia but diseases aren't my thing. Not that I don't get diseases but I don't worry about them too much

Hi
I think this shrub is an Escallonia, maybe the variety 'Apple Blossom'. You are right, bees love it and it is very pretty in flower. Mine also gets spots on it and the leaves fall a bit. I have just checked the net and there is a leaf fungus that seems to attack Escallonia.
rhs.org.uk do have some advice that might help, but it looks a bit tricky to cure organically.
I think the time has come for me to plant something else.
Hi
I might just give that a go. The hedge creates privacy from our neighbour and the alternative is planting something else and waiting for it to grow. I had a similar problem with Pyracantha and wondered if both have the same fungus.
I will get my pruners out at the week-end a see what happens. It would be a shame to loose such pretty flowers.
Thank you for your advice guys
Marilyn T- I'm going to cut mine back now but I will be sad to see the flowers go.
Just had to get rid of mine, it's called Escallonia Leaf Spot. Very difficult to get rid of apparently and tends to come back eventually even when cut hard back.
