can anyone explain?
I sowed some Nicotiniana lansdorffii [ lovely plant if you haven't tried it ] 14 days ago. Sown in a propagator, in my usual Perlite and John Innes No. 1, and nothing has germinated.
4 days ago I decided to sow some more, same packet, same compost, and today they have germinated.

Has to be guess work but I would put my money on the soil temperature when you sowed.
I keep my seedling compost bags next to a radiator indoors. Then take it out to the shed to do my sowing. Not had anything this year that wasn't up in a few days.
