Problems with Kalanchoes

I wonder if you can help me. I bought Kalanchoes from B&Q a couple of years ago. The plant is kept indoors, but last year I was going away for the summer and I left it in the greenhouse for a neighbour to water. Since then I have noticed that beneath the plant, there has been a constant smattering of little brown/black granules. It took me a while to realise it is some sort of fecal matter. Something has been eating the leaves and a few days ago I spotted a small green caterpillar. There are two small almost web like 'bits' on the plant, but I can not see anything obvious.

I have to clear away the faeces daily, there is a remarkable amount for something I can't even see!!

Thanks for any advice

Have you removed the caterpillar and put it on the birdtable? If so, then it probably had a friend or two.

Try spreading your fingers either side of the base of the plant so that they cover the compost, then turn the plant upside down and swish it around in some lukewarm water with a squirt of washing up liquid in it - that may well flush the little beggar out image
